The USCS Vision for Elementary Students and Families (Kindergarten-6th Grade):
The University Model School is a unique blend of traditional private education and home education. Through USCS, parents will remain deeply involved in their child’s day-to-day development while providing an excellent education. Within this model, students will attend school twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday) where they will receive a full day of instruction. Our caring, professional teachers engage the students with hands-on projects and creative field trips. Teachers grade all assignments, quizzes, and tests, and provide progress reports and report cards for each student throughout the year.
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are off-campus days in which the parents function as assistant teachers, following the detailed lesson plans that USCS master teachers prepare.
The Benefits of this Model for Elementary Students and Families:
- Strong Parental Involvement, ensuring that the students continue to benefit from
their parents’ influence in these formative years - Experiential Instruction, using hands-on projects and field trips to fully engage
even the most reluctant student - Character and Spiritual Development from caring Christian teachers who
interweave these vital principles into class time - Private School Setting, where traditional classroom etiquette is expected
- Small Class Sizes, allowing for personal attention from the teacher
- Social Interaction, as students form wonderful friendships with their fellow
classmates - Flexible Lifestyle: Home education – whether full time or part time – affords
incredible opportunities for spontaneity in family life - Lesson Plans and Grading: the burden of writing lesson plans, grading
assignments, and preparing report cards is completely removed from the home
